FAMILY LIFE CENTER RENOVATIONS & ADDITIONS COMPLETED MARCH 2020
On June 30, 2019 the membership of BJOFWBChurch gave approval for renovations & additions to the Family Life Center. In early July a contract for $494,095.00 was signed with Hudson Brothers to start construction. Upon completion in March a total of $211,722.55 had been paid by the Church on project. A note was signed with Southern Bank for $282,372.45 in early April with a renegotiated interest rate of 3.50% down from original 4.25% rate. The first payment is due on 5/23/2020.

In 2006 the Black Jack Original Free Will Baptist Church Membership approved Master Building Plans to make additions and renovations to our campus. Mr. Michael Dunn, AIA of Dunn & Dalton Architects of Kinston, N. C. was chosen as architect to draw plans & help supervise the design build. At Michael’s retirement his partner, Mr Drew Dalton has taken over as our architect.

6/30/09 Architects contract signed by our 3 trustees & mailed back to Dunn & Dalton Architects. This agreement includes all of our engineering & fees for the drawings & specifications for construction. It is anticipated this could take up to 4 weeks for completion & then these results will be sent to our contractor, for final bids.
8/31/09 Final Building Plans sent to General Contractor, Hudson Brothers Construction from our Architects, Dunn & Dalton. They will send out for final bids this week. This process could take upwards of two (2) weeks. As stated in our meeting on 6-14, we have also started some of the drainage work that was necessary to begin preparation for construction

9-10-09 Membership in attendance voted 100% to have trustees sign contract with Hudson Brothers Construction to start Phase 1 Project asap as designed by Dunn & Dalton Architects. As shown above we are near our $350,000.00 Goal & Thank the LORD for all his blessings upon our church. We will continue to have updates & pictures here as our project moves forward.
10/05/09 Signed contract by Church trustees to begin construction on 10/12/09 returned to Hudson Brothers Construction or asap after Building Permit received from Pitt County.
10-18-09 Updated amount of $358,016.82. GOAL REACHED OF $350,000.00 TO START BUILDING. GOD IS SO GOOD!! Please be in prayer that our funds will continue to grow as we are going to need some furniture & accessories, plus there are some members asking could we add a Drive-thru to the end of our new Educational Building. We are seeking cost estimates to present to Board & Church.

11/04/09 We have been told by Hudson Brothers that it will be after January 1, 2010 before they will move inside for renovations. As a result we should be able to continue all scheduled activities in our Fellowship Hall, etc.—We have also started the process of replacing our roof shingles on the Cherry Building as of today.–11/09/09—-The footings have been dug & cement poured. Also the blocks have been formed on footings to pour floor as soon as weather permits.cause delays.
12-11-09 Praise the Lord. As per photos in the photo gallery under Phase 1 Construction the floor for our new construction was poured this morning
01-17-10 Our Church was blessed again by unanimous vote in support of continuing the revised Kitchen & Cherry Building Renovations, as well as the addition of a Covered Drive-Thru on the back of our New Educational Building. Construction Progress continues & we have come inside this week to start the renovations to our present building.
4/28/10 Our Church unanimously approved extending our budget to $853.024.00 for our Phase 1 Building Program & renovations at our Quarterly Business Meeting this date. Our previous budget had been $821,495.00. This overage of $31,529.00 has been caused by new Building Code issues & unforeseen problems with our renovations, plus some changes asked for by our various committees. 6-20-10. THE LORD IS SO GOOD!!! We held our Sunday School Classes in the New Educational Building yesterday. Other than an Air Conditioning issue early on, things went well. There will be some touch up painting, adjustments made on door handles etc. in the Nursery & Toddlers area but overall our members made very complementary remarks & seemed well pleased. We are looking forward to the Queenie Clark & Julia Smith Sunday School Classes being in their New Classrooms before the 1st of August as well as having our New Kitchen, Fellowship Hall, Library, & Boardroom.

Covered Drive-Thru & Gravel Driveway has been completed & is now in use. Our new Educational Building, Nursery, Toddlers, Welcome Center & Bathrooms are in full use. There is still some touch up painting, etc. to be completed. Work is underway to finish Classrooms, Boardroom, Library, Kitchen & Fellowship Hall.

Building Dedication Service held & video of service is under “Sermons & Video” Tab. We are in process of putting shelves in Library & adding covered shelter to Welcome Center Entrance in next couple of weeks. That will complete the Phase 1 Construction.
