OASIS is the name of our teen ministry and is divided into two groups: Junior High (6-8 grade) led by Eileen Best, Ronald Evans, and Jeri and Donald Wynn; Senior High (9-12 grade) led by Brad Williamson, Donna Gladson and Jennifer Williamson. On Sunday nights we meet for worship and on Wednesday nights we meet for Bible study. Below is a brief description of the meetings and the objectives developed.
OASIS Ministries - OBJECTIVES
Junior High (6th through 8th grade)
Build upon WAVE (children ministry) objectives
Have an ability to lead someone to Christ
Senior High (9th through 12th grade)
Build upon previous objectives
Have an understanding of mentorship
Have an opportunity to mentor younger youth
Have an understanding of spiritual gifts and know their own gift(s)
Have an opportunity to find a place of service within the church
Overflow
"A place to be yourself before God."
Overflow is a worship opportunity that makes sense to 6th-12th grade students. We meet the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sunday nights at 5:45pm-7:15pm. This takes place in the Oasis room which is upstairs in the Family Life Center. We usually have time for recreation and snack before heading upstairs for worship. The two groups then separate for the message. If you are looking for a place to worship we invite you to come and join us.
180
"Studying to be approved by God."
180 is a time of discipleship for our youth. The Junior High and Senior High groups meet on Wednesday nights. This time is spent in Bible studies as selected by the group leaders, as well as food, fun, and games. Junior High Oasis meets in the Oasis room 7:00pm to 8:00pm. Senior High Oasis meets in the youth pastor's home 7:30pm to 9:00pm.
In addition to our Sunday and Wednesday night meetings we also get together for other activities. We go to Dare2Share each year and we participate in 30 hour famine. We go snow skiing, have lock-ins, go out to eat, have pool parties, celebrate new year’s eve, have super bowl parties, and several other fellowship activities. Our teens also have volunteered in other ministry positions throughout the church on a regular basis. There is a lot to do and we have fun doing those things. | |
